Our Story

How We Met

Minding my own business at my cubicle in the Admissions Office at Southwestern Seminary, I became acutely aware of a tall, very handsome guy "popping by" his friend's office located conveniently around the corner from my desk. Dillon worked down the hall in the Communications Office, and it was difficult for him to go unnoticed. Halfway unbeknownst to Dillon, his friend Greg was dropping some not-so-subtle hints that we should get together (he claims credit for master-minding the whole thing). I became intrigued to know more about Dillon, and he asked me to lunch!

The Start of Our Adventure

In God's perfect timing, we started dating in April after we had gotten to know each other well through work and our small group at church. Really, we found any excuse to hang out without it being an official date yet. I think we went to every single grocery store in Fort Worth together! From the start, I was confident that God had formed Dillon into a selfless, giving and loving man, ready and eager to serve his future wife.

As we talked about life, passions, God's kingdom and our part in it, we began speculating the possibility of serving the Lord together as a couple. With obedience to God's call at the core of our relationship, we both knew our relationship had amazing potential to become permanent. On our first road trip to Arkansas, Dillon took us on a detour in Texarkana to a local landmark that straddles the state line. Standing along the border connecting our two home states, he told me that no matter how many borders we cross together in our lives, he will love me in every place.

After an incredible three months, Dillon talked to my dad, got a ring, and proposed! Dillon planned two days worth of dates, finally culminating in a shiny piece of jewelry. He definitely built up the anticipation for what I hoped was coming at the end of these dates. The first night, we went to a Brazilian steakhouse for dinner, rode in a horse and carriage around downtown Fort Worth, and walked through the beautifully lit downtown. The next day, he lathered me with breakfast, coffee, snacks, gifts and sweet notes hidden all around Fort Worth. He took me to find them at places that had been significant in our relationship. After reliving our relationship, we ended up at a new park - the perfect place to take a new step. He had flowers and music set up at a bench, where he explained to me how much he loved me. Then he asked me to marry him!!!!! We prayed together, then out of the bushes popped both of our parents! Dillon put so much into making it perfect, and I am so honored to get to marry him!
